The Kingdom in Parables...
These are some YouTube clips that are effective when exploring the idea of the Kingdom of God as explained by Jesus through parables;

This powerpoint on The Good Samaritan clearly introduces the concept of what a Parable is and why Jesus used this format to get his message across. It also includes some group work to engage students in the importance of this parable.

The Kingdom Of God; Group Task
You can give students this task to either test their knowledge after covering this body or work in the class or as a self-directed learning task - both are equally effective. The instructions are self explanatory, but it adds to a sense of importance if you hand each group a large brown envelope with the instructions inside. I include a conference name tag for each group leader to add to the sense of importance! (I do award marks in the asssessments for this task - you may want to edit part 8 of the instructions to suit your own needs.)

Creative Parable Writing Exercise...
The following link brings you to a wonderful site called The Literacy Shed; a site with animated video clips which act as springboards to student creative writing exercises. The link I have included here is to The Wind Farmer animation, which I think is a lovely follow-on exercise to the parable of The Sower. Watch the clip and try to write a follow on paragraph to the parable of The Sower to include the message contained in this clip! (You need to scroll down the page to locate the relevant clip.)
